A. December Holidays 2007 Maths Olympiad Workshop

We will be conducting intensive workshops for Maths Olympiad at our West Coast Recreation Club Centre. 15 students per class. Cost is $260 per student.

B. Fimo Clay Modeling and Creativity Course Please Click here for details

Get your children to create new designs using polymer Clay and they get to keep their own creations. Most children will make between 2 to 6 masterpieces. Come join
us for a fun filled creative workshop.

Duration is 2 hours. Maximum of 15 students per class. Cost is $20 per student.

C. Maths Warriors and Trash to Puzzles Workshop

         Maths Warriors^TM gets students to play Maths, instead of just doing homework. Once students excel in this game, they will be experts at mental maths, understand fractions,
        percentages, and probability as well as develop strategy skills. Even weak players will quickly pick up new skills as they play with better players, to excel in Maths. Younger students
       will truly admire the power of multiplication and want to master them quickly. Students will also play and challenge each other using outstanding games . This will reinforce key maths
       concepts. We will supply recycled materials and teach students how to make their own puzzles which they get to bring home. A hands on workshop, includes a free set of Maths
        Warriors and puzzles they get to keep.

Duration is 4.5 hours. Tea break will be provided. Maximum of 16 students per class. Cost is $80 per student.

D. Super Study Skills Workshop Duration is 2 days, 9 to 5 pm.

Mathematics Olympiad Workshop

Programme	Details
Goals:	To stimulate enthusiasm and a love for Mathematics To introduce important Mathematical concepts To teach major strategies for problem solving To develop Mathematical flexibility in solving problems To strengthen Mathematical intuition To foster Mathematical creativity and ingenuity To provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges The programme consists of topics (see below) and will be conducted in 3 eight-hour sessions.
For:	Primary 3 and 4 - Monday to Wednesday, December 3 to 5, 2007, 9 am to 5 pm. This enrichment workshop is intended for students who have a strong interest in the subject.
Topics:	Arithmetic: Model Enrichment, Number Sequence, Problem Solving strategies, Guess Missing Numbers, Addition, Subtraction, Mean, Multiples and Simple Divisibility. Students will be introduced basic rules for arithmetic, some shortcuts and techniques for solving complex arithmetical problems. They will then use the techniques to solve number puzzles. Geometry: Lines, Angles, Basic Properties of Triangle, Rectangle, Square and Regular Polygons. Recognize different types of Graphs. Games. Students will be introduced geometrical figures such as polygons and circles. Student will be able to solve questions involving basic graphs. Order of Operations, Keys to Accuracy and Speed in Mathematics. Logical thinking: Logical reasoning plays an important role in solving mathematical problems. In this session, students are required to collate information and analyze situation to solve some interesting logical reasoning puzzles. Time and Money: Solve problems involving shopping and budgeting as well financial literacy problems. Use to problem solving strategies to answer Time related questions. Games will be introduced to students so they can better understand mathematical concepts and have fun.
For:	Primary 4 and 5 – Wednesday to Friday, Dec 19 to 21, 2007, 9 am to 5 pm This enrichment workshop is intended for students who have a strong interest in the subject.
Topics:	· Arithmetic: Model Enrichment, Number Sequence, Combinational Divisibility, Prime numbers, Composite numbers, Even numbers and Odd numbers. Factors and Multiples, Remainder Theorem, Mean, and Problem Solving strategies. Decimals, Fractions, Percentage, and Ratios. Students will be introduced basic rules for arithmetic, some shortcuts and techniques for solving complex arithmetical problems. They will then use the techniques to solve number puzzles. · Geometry: Properties of Geometrical Figures, Perimeter, Area and Properties of Circles. Spatial Visualization and Nets. · Application Models – in Real Life Maths. · Speed Mental Calculations. Approximation and Estimation. · Logical thinking: Logical reasoning plays an important role in solving mathematical problems. In this session, students are required to collate information and analyse situation to solve some interesting logical puzzles. · Games will be introduced to students so they can better understand mathematical concepts and have fun.
For:	Primary 5 and 6 - Monday to Wednesday, Dec 10 to 12, 2007, 9 am to 5 pm This enrichment workshop is intended for students who have a strong interest in the subject.
Topics:	· Arithmetic: Model Enrichment, Number Sequence, Combinational Divisibility, Prime numbers, Composite numbers, Even numbers and Odd numbers. Factors and Multiples, Remainder Theorem, Mean, and Problem Solving strategies. Decimals, Fractions, Percentage, and Ratios. Students will be introduced basic rules for arithmetic, some shortcuts and techniques for solving complex arithmetical problems. They will then use the techniques to solve number puzzles. · Geometry: Properties of Geometrical Figures, Perimeter, Area, Circles – Region and Area. Spatial Visualization and Nets. · Time, Distance and Speed. · Introduce Chinese Maths Olympiad Strategies - Drawer Principle – Probability and Certainty. · Application Models – in Real Life Maths. · Logical thinking: Logical reasoning plays an important role in solving mathematical problems. Students are required to collate information and analyze situation to solve some interesting logical puzzles. · Games will be introduced to students so they can better understand mathematical concepts and have fun.
Evaluation:	All students must take an evaluation paper to determine the class they should attend.
